New Ebensfeld-Erfurt Rail Line: Rehberg and Masserberg Tunnel

Work has begun on a further tunnel for the 107 km long new rail link between Ebensfeld and Erfurt designed to cope with trains travelling up to 300 km/h – involving 22 tunnels altogether 41 km in length (accounting for 38 % of the route). It is part of the 500 km long new and upgraded Nuremberg-Erfurt/Halle line part of the German Unity Transport Project No. 8.
