Drive concluded for the Liefkens-hoek Tunnel in Antwerp

At present the roughly 6 km long Liefkenshoek Tunnel with 2 single-track bores to connect the 2 banks of the Schelde is being produced so that as from 2013 the existing route catering for up to more than 100 goods trains per day will be shortened by 22 km. The tunnel drives involving undercutting the Schelde and the canal dock (Fig. 1) have been concluded and lining operations have begun.
