2012 BrennerCongress

The 5th BrennerCongress takes place on February 16 + 17, 2012 at the Innsbruck Fair parallel to the Viatec trade fair. So far the international symposium has taken place at Innsbruck in 2007, 2008 and 2010 and at Bolzano in 2011. International experts will deliver papers on a number of topics devoted to constructing, operating and maintaining railways and highways.

The first series of lectures is devoted to the building of rail infrastructures as well as conflict management and settling disputes during their production. To start with progress on the Brenner Base Tunnel is to be examined before those responsible for the Gotthard Base Tunnel project explain the challenges faced at the technical furnishing stage.

In addition insights into settling disputes for the Lower Inn Valley project and findings obtained from methods chosen to settle disputes for ÖBB major construction sites will be provided. Subsequently the BrennerCongress will deal with conflict management and settling disputes in conjunction with small and large public construction projects. Solutions from Switzerland, Germany and Austria will be presented by regional (Tyrolean) and international experts. The first day of the Congress winds up with a podium discussion, which foresees contributions from leading representatives of clients, contractors and engineering offices.

The second day of the Congress is devoted to TBM drives. The speakers will report on current developments in the field of engineering technology for changing rock, computational and prognosis models, planning principles as well as risk phases and models for forecasting excavations. Parallel to the papers on TBMs topical reports on constructing in the Alpine region are to be presented. Researchers will touch on the natural hazards water and landslides and various structures providing protection against torrents and avalanches in north and south Tyrol as well as throughout Europe.
