Euroforum Annual Conference – Conference on “Fire Protection in Tunnelling”

The EU guidelines place increasingly stricter demands on tunnel safety and economy. Underground traffic is constantly growing in Europe’s long and complex tunnel facilities. In turn the threat of accidents also grows, which can have serious consequences beneath the surface. At the 5th Euroforum Annual Conference “Fire Protection in Tunnelling” (February 22nd and 23rd, 2010 in the Best Western Hotel, Cologne/D) numerous experts will discuss constructional and technical demands for tunnels as well as emergency management and deployment strategies for rescue measures. Prof. Wolfgang Balzer, Bung Ingenieure AG, will present the new guidelines for furnishing and operating road tunnels. Safety concepts and codes of practice for trackbound public commuter transportation (S-ÖPNV) will be examined by Dipl.-Ing. Udo Stahlberg from the Association of German Transport Companies. Technical retrofitting programmes for fire protection for German road tunnels will be explained by Dipl.-Ing. Joachim Naumann of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs.
