Hermann Paus Maschinenfabrik GmbH: A Family Business for 40 Years
The Hermann Paus Maschinenfabrik GmbH has made a name for itself nationally as well as internationally with the quality seal “Made in Germany” and its leitmotiv “the people who care”. Now the family business with its headquarters at Ems-büren in the Emsland has celebrated its 40th jubilee.
“We’re celebrating our 40th jubilee because we’re delighted at the success attained so far and we find ourselves on the threshold of major growth above all in Latin America,” CEO Dipl.-Kfm. Wolfgang Paus said. The Paus Family was able to welcome prominent guests in the shape of the President of the European Parliament, Prof. Hans-Gert Pöttering and the chief executive of the Verband Maschinen- und Anlagenbau, Joachim Schmid. Altogether guests from no less than 25 nations from 5 continents were present although this certainly did not include all the countries where Paus is active.
The foundation stone for this success story was laid back in 1968 when the company’s founder Hermann Paus acquired the plot of land on which the company still has its headquarters albeit in considerably expanded form. Within the course of a few years Paus developed and presented new vehicles for mining and tunnelling, flameproof trackless vehicles, telescopic elevators for roofers, then subsequently furniture elevators especially for movers. Parallel to this a production line for work platforms in telescopic and articulated design was established either to be extended or mounted on a lorry.
The Hermann Paus Maschi-nenfabrik GmbH soon entered the ranks of the “global players”. Exports were carried out to all possible countries; it has been represented in Moscow since 2001 and the Emsland enterprise and Rodrigo Torrealba have owned the “Paus Chile Ltda.” with its headquarters in Santiago de Chile in 2003. International business is flourishing as was made particularly evident during the jubilee event. “We believe that we can treble sales within the next 3 to 4 years,” was the prophesy made by Rodrigo Torrealba in his welcoming address. The cause for the thoroughly positive development of business in Latin America is first and foremost the high quality standard “Made in Germany” as well as good sales consulting apart from the explosive growth of hydroelectric projects.
Today the company with its labour force of almost 200 including 18 trainees and 2 students, who are preparing to graduate at vocational college, is a reliable force both nationally and internationally. Since 2002 the Hermann Paus Maschinenfabrik GmbH has been managed in the second generation by the founder’s sons, Dipl.-Ing. Franz-Josef Paus and Dipl.-Kfm. Wolfgang Paus. Growth is the key factor is how they see it. In the years to come the intention is to ensure that Paus products quite literally move a great deal worldwide.
