Hochtief sells its shares in Chilean Toll Highway Tunnel San Cristóbal
Chile. At the End of June 2015, Hochtief has sold its 50 % of shares in the concession company of the Tunnel San Cristóbal toll highway in Santiago de Chile. Buyer of these shares is the infrastructure investor Brookfield Infrastructure Group which already holds the other 50 % of shares in the company.
Tunnel San Cristóbal is in operation since summer 2008 and performs an important function for the heavily frequented highway around Chile‘s six-million capital. Hochtief had planned, financed and built the tunnel on the basis of a BOT contract (Build, Operate, Transfer) which the company received in February 2005 and had been operating it since its opening. The double-tube structure has a diameter of 9 m and a length of 2 km. In addition to the construction of a ventilation system, Hochtief installed drainage pipes as well as a safety and control system.
