Bergen gets the World Tunnel Congress 2017

Brazil/Norway. On May 14th, the final day of this year’s World Tunnel Congress (WTC) in Iguassu Falls, Brazil, the General Assembly of the International Tunneling and Underground Space Association (ITA) voted on the venue for WTC 2017. The first ballot already brought the decision in favour of the Norwegian Tunnelling Society (NFF) with their application for the seaport of Bergen. Located at the west coast, Bergen is the second largest city of Norway with a population of almost 270 000. The application of the NFF beat the competing national organizations from France (AFTES) and the Netherlands (KIVI-NIRIA TTOW) and their application for Paris and Amsterdam. At the Closing Session of the 2014 Congress the ITA flag was passed on to ITA Croatia, that will invite the international tunnelling community to Dubrovnik in 2016. The WTC 2015 will take place in San Francisco.
