14–16 October 2021: 70th Geomechanics Colloquium in Salzburg

The annual geomechanics colloquium has developed as an important meeting point for experts in Central Europe. The event with the associated exhibition annually attracts over 800 participants, making it one of the largest events in the field of geomechanics worldwide.

Due to the pandemic, the 69th Geomechanics Colloquium in 2020 was held in a virtual format. It was a successful meeting, but naturally it could not replace a “real” conference.

Hybrid Conference – Online Participation Is Also Possible

The board of the Austrian Society for Geomechanics has decided to hold the colloquium again this year at the Salzburg Congress Centre as a physical event. The currently applicable regulations allow the congress to be conducted almost as usual. Only the “3G” rule (short for German “geimpft – getestet – genesen = vaccinated – tested – recovered”) as well as the obligation to wear face masks and to follow general hygiene rules must be observed.

As there might again be some restrictions in relation to a maximum number of allowed participants and travel, there will be also a possibility to participate virtually. Excellent simultaneous translation is provided.

The sessions topics are:

Dealing with geological risk

New developments in mechanized tunnelling

Innovative exploration methods ahead of the face

Urban tunnelling
