New Ebensfeld-Erfurt Rail Route: Tunnels, as of August 2012

After the completion of the currently largest infrastructure programme in the Federal Republic of Germany, the German Unity Transport (VDE) Project No. 8, it will be possible to travel by train in less than 4 hours from Munich to Berlin. This cuts the travelling time in half. This more than 670 km long rail link represents part of the Trans-European Network (TEN) of the European Union (EU).
