TBM DiGs 2022 at the Montanuniversität Leoben

TBM DiGs is an international conference series that provides a specialized technological forum for discussing and exchanging knowledge related to TBM works in difficult ground conditions. This series covers a wide range of topics, including characterization of difficult grounds, field observations and case studies, physical and laboratory tests, numerical modelling and techniques, treatments of difficult grounds, TBM design and installation, tunnel support design, monitoring, and risk management.

TBM DiGs 2022 is the fifth conference in this series and will take place this year from 23 to 25 November. It is jointly organized by Montanuniversität Leoben and OEGG (Austrian Society for Geomechanics). TBM DiGs is a hybrid event with the option of attending in person or online. The conference language is English.

Who Should Attend?

TBM DiGs is for all those involved in the use of tunnel boring machines in difficult grounds. This diverse community includes academic researchers, industrial scientists and engineers, government scientists and policy makers. Everyone is welcome at this event, ranging from those just beginning their career to those with substantial expertise.

The conference will provide a great opportunity for networking, as participants can exchange ideas, expertise and experience with other professionals. The structure of the conference allows for learning through both formal and informal interactions, such as paper presentations in a single session, posters, social events, and a technical tour to a tunnelling worksite. Early bird registration is already possible and ends on 15 August 2022.

ITA-CET University Professors Meeting and PhD Students Conference

Prior to TBM DiGs 2022, an ITA-CET university professors meeting and a PhD students conference will be held on 21 and 22 November 2022. Registration will be free of charge and provides a great opportunity for young tunnellers and their lecturers to promote high-level research, whilst networking with other participants from around the globe.
University professors and their PhD students interested in making a presentation at the ITA-CET conference should contact for an abstract submission form.
