WTC 2025: Andrea Pigorini From Italy Elected as New ITA President
The 51st General Assembly of the ITA (International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association) took place as part of the World Tunnel Congress 2025 in Stockholm. The representatives of the member countries also elected the new ITA President this year: Andrea Pigorini from Italy succeeds Arnold Dix. He will lead the ITA as president until 2028.
With the election of Andrea Pigorini as ITA President, Arnold Dix now takes over as Immediate Past President for the next three years. ITA Executive Director Helen Roth was in office at her first General Assembly and the WTC in Stockholm; Papua New Guinea was agreed and welcomed as the 81st Member Nation of the ITA.

Elections to the Executive Council
Three new Vice Presidents were elected to the Executive Council in Stockholm:
Klaus Rieker (Germany), First Vice President
Sanja Zlatanic (USA), Vice President
Damian McGirr (United Kingdom), Vice President
Furthermore, five new Executive Council members were elected:
Elena Chiriotti (France)
Nobuharu Isago (Japan)
Zhigou Zhang (China)
Hamdi Aydin (Turkey)
Johan Mignon (Belgium)
Past President Jinxiu Yan Appointed as Adviser to the ITA
Jinxiu Jenny Yan Past ITA President 2019–2022 was appointed as an Adviser to the ITA and Executive Council. Five leaders of the industry were appointed Fellows of ITA in recognition of their contributions:

Rakesh Kumar Khali (India)
Giuseppe Lunardi (Italy)
Kari Korpela (Finland)
Randall Essex (USA)
World Tunnel Congress 2028 in Singapore
In a tight contest, and by just two votes, Singapore was selected to host the World Tunnel Congress in 2028. WTC 2026 next year will take place in Montréal, Canada, and WTC 2027 to be hosted by Member Nation Belgium in Antwerp.
