Albvorland Tunnel: Breakthrough in Southern Tube

Implenia has been commissioned by Deutsche Bahn to build the 8-km Albvorland Tunnel, a key section of the new railway line between Stuttgart and Ulm. The breakthrough of October 29 in the southern tube by the Herrenknecht EPB-TBM WANDA marked the end of Implenia’s drilling work on the Albvorland Tunnel’s two tubes. TBM Sybille already made the breakthrough in the northern tube in August 2019. TBM WANDA had been digging for almost exactly two years. During this period, Implenia installed a total of 3989 segment rings as the TBM progressed 15 m a day on average.
