The Samnaunerstraße connects the Lower Engadine with the town of Samnaun in the Swiss canton of Graubünden (Grisons). Particularly at the current Val Pischöt gallery, the road no longer meets requirements regarding the width and geometry and also has to be closed in winter for several days at a time due to avalanches.
