Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) has in the past two years carried out a comprehensive programme of measurements on its new Lower Inn Valley line, in order to research more precisely the propagation of vibrations along various sectors of the line and, in particular, in tunnels with low overcover located close to built-up zones; the data thus obtained are to be used for the planning and installation of effective preventative measures.
