Robust Special-Purpose Machine:
R 930 Tunnel Crawler Excavator

The R 930 Tunnel crawler excavator was developed at Liebherr-France SAS in Colmar (France). The R 930 Tunnel model is the successor to the R 924 Compact Tunnel and delivers increased performance for all underground applications. Together with the R 950 Tunnel, it completes the range of crawler excavators for tunnel applications.

Designed for Confined Spaces

The R 930 Tunnel is designed to master the challenges of underground construction sites with their confined spaces and limited access as effectively as possible. The R 930 Tunnel’s work equipment is available in two lengths and features a 2 x 45° swivel bearing that allows for precise adjustment to the excavation profile. The machine’s small slewing radius and powerful, protected LED headlights reduce the risk of collisions with construction personnel or walls. The special arrangement of the hoses and cylinders protects them as much as possible against impacts and resulting damage. To increase its robustness – a key feature for underground applications – the R 930 Tunnel is equipped with steel protection. The new R 930 Tunnel crawler excavator can be fitted with Liebherr’s quick coupling system, which enables easy and fast tool changes.

Flexibility for Underground Applications

The Liebherr ripper bucket with two or three teeth ensures high productivity on underground construction sites. Additionally, the R 930 Tunnel can be equipped with a cutter or a hammer to cover a wide range of applications. The R 930 Tunnel’s grading blade can be used to level the ground. Furthermore, it stabilizes the machine on uneven ground and protects the undercarriage and crawler drives against impacts from rubble.

Safety Features

The cab’s certified protective structures (ROPS/Roll Over Protective Structure, FOPS/Falling Object Protective Structure, and FGPS/Front Guard Protective Structure), as well as the side and rear monitoring cameras, ensure maximum safety on the job site. The electronic components are also specially protected. The cab of the R 930 Tunnel is comfortable, ergonomic, and optimally equipped to withstand the dusty environment of underground construction sites. The seat features a headrest and is made of synthetic leather for easier cleaning.

Liebherr-France SAS

Liebherr-France SAS is the Group’s development center for earthmoving crawler excavators. The broad product range includes models for earthmoving applications and quarries. Since the 1980s, the facility has expanded its offerings to include specialized applications such as selective demolition and tunnel construction.
