New Rosshäusern Tunnel for Route Development

The 43 km long, mainly single-track route Berne-Kerzers-Neuchâtel (1901) in the Cantons of Berne, Freiburg and Neuenburg is part of the Berne-Paris link and the Berne S-Bahn transit system. The BLS AG as owner intends producing a twin-track system section-by-section. The Rosshäusern-Mauss section is being tackled between 2012 and 2016: it is to be straightened (shortened by 300 m) and in future designed for a speed of 160 km/h instead of 90 running over twin-tracks.
