Goodbye Rail Bonus – Which Effects does it exert
on Noise Precaution?
On November 7 and 8, 2017, Dr.-Ing. Friedrich Krüger, STUVA Inc., will chair and also contribute to the seminar “Noise Prevention in Rail Traffic”, organized by the Esslingen Technical Academy.
Railways are an essential element of the transport infrastructure. In order to protect the population, measures devised to reduce air-borne emissions caused by rail traffic are needed to an ever growing extent. Low noise emissions contribute to the creation of new rail routes and thus to the reduction of the environmental impact. Urban transit systems can only be effective and attractive providing they run on rails, which are kept free of impediments imposed by other forms of transport and which are not located too far away from residential quarters and places of work.
Investigating and solving Noise Problems
The seminar deals with the total complex of the creation, distribution and reduction of air-borne noise caused by rail traffic as well as with measuring and evaluation. Concrete possibilities for investigating and solving noise issues on the rail transportation sector are provided.
The individual topics of the seminar comprise: noise source and forecast models, active noise abatement measures taken by the DB AG, bridges, tunnels and areal railway facilities, acceptance and control measurements, protection of affected residents against noise caused by rail traffic, curve squeal. The seminar addresses members of public transportation companies, the DB AG, authorities, consultants, research institutes, companies and legal offices, who deal with the subject area of noise protection.
