Traffic Concept for Renewing the Plabutsch Tunnel

From spring 2017 the Plabutsch Tunnel near Graz is to be renovated with work concentrating on updating the safety technical facilities. The Plabutsch Tunnel is an approx. 10 km long, two-tube road tunnel, belonging to the Austrian A9 Pyhrn motorway. Its first bore became operational in 1987 and the additional west tube was opened in 2004 following five years of construction. The proposed redevelopment links up with the renewal scheme for the 1.5 km long part-section of the Pyrhm motorway between the Plabutsch and Gratkorn South tunnels between March and November 2016.
