Picture of the month 2/20 Mika

Microtunnelling has become more and more important in recent decades and is now indispensable, especially in urban areas. The photo shows an Iseki machine of the type TCS Unclemole Super, combined with a cutterhead for rocky geology. It was designed and built for the Alphington Sewer Project in Melbourne (Australia) as part of a German-Japanese cooperation between the companies Iseki and Mika. This combination is specially designed for microtunnelling in difficult conditions. (Further information on this topic will follow in an article by Mika GmbH in tunnel issue 3/2020).
