In tunnel issue 5/2014 we informed you about the most important aspects of the 40^th Annual Meeting of the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA) and the 2014 World Tunnel Congress, held from May 9 to 14, 2014 at Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil. In this issue of tunnel you can learn more about the activities of the 13 ITA Working Groups and the four Committees.

Even although only a few of the total of the around 1400 participants from 52 countries take part in the Working Group sessions, these nonetheless largely contribute to the positive outward appearance of the ITA because here in particular collaboration among persons from various countries occurs thus facilitating an important exchange of experiences. The reports provided by the Working Groups in particular are accorded recognition among experts as they generally reflect the latest level of technology and incorporate the individual findings available in the various countries in a single...
