New Research Project with the Involvement of the STUVA

Evaluation and further Development of Safety Concepts for Rail Tunnels (SIKET)

With the involvement of STUVA, a new project started in August 2018: “Evaluation and further development of safety concepts for rail tunnels (SIKET)”. The Federal Ministry for Education and Research is supporting the project as part of the programme “Research for civil Safety” over a period of three years (August 2018–July 2021) with a grant of 2.3 million euros.

 

Motivation

For each rail tunnel, there is a safety plan, which specifies measures of fire protection, evacuation and the procedure for rescue and fire fighting interventions. Until now, these plans have been produced for each tunnel...
