Second Bore of the Bad Cannstatt Tunnel broken through

The DB Projekt Stuttgart–Ulm GmbH celebrated the breakthrough of the second (west) bore of the Bad Cannstatt Tunnel on 10 October 2017. This means that in about three and a half years, the two bores of the Bad Cannstatt approach have been completely excavated by the shotcrete method from the north head of the future Stuttgart main station to the intermediate starting point in Rosenstein – altogether 5100 metres of tunnel. The breakthrough in the east bore already had taken place on 19 December 2016.

This breakthrough represents a further milestone in the rearrangement of the Stuttgart railway...
