Thermal Fire Detection System in the Krohnstiegtunnel

The 419 m long Krohnstiegtunnel is a road tunnel running under the runway of the Hamburg Airport. It offers passage for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. Since the tunnel was equipped with advanced automatic incident detection and fire detection technology from Flir in 2016, tunnel operators can monitor the safety inside the Krohnstiegtunnel 24/7, using real-time thermal video from Flir ITS-Series AID cameras installed along the entire length of the tunnel. The new detection system proved its worth shortly after installation began.
