The Suburban Rail Loop will transform Victoria’s public transport network by constructing a 90-kilometre orbital rail line. The new system will connect all of Melbourne's major train services, providing Victorians with better access to employment, hospitals, universities and the wider community.
Züblin is involved in the construction of the first section of the new line, the fully underground SRL East, which will connect Cheltenham and Box Hill via 26 km of twin tunnels. Construction of SRL East began in 2022 and the line is expected to open in 2035.Züblin Ground Engineering is contributing extensive expertise and specialist equipment for the construction of nearly 30 cross-passages using the ground freezing methodology.
Strabag Australia will be supported by its subsidiary company, Georgiou Group, which has extensive local expertise in infrastructure construction.
