Tunnel Construction West and Main Station in Munich: Current Status of Ongoing Works

The work of the joint venture ARGE Tunnel Hauptbahn­hof (ATH) for the west tunnel construction and at Munich Central Station is making progress. The launch shaft in front of the Donnersberger Bridge will be ready for the TBM launch by around early summer 2024, work on the RS 3 rescue shaft has begun, and at the central station level E-2 is being excavated since September 2023. The work of ARGE Marienhof was already presented in detail in tunnel 4/2022 and the overall project in tunnel 2/2023. The following article gives an overview of the work of ARGE Tunnel Hauptbahnhof.

The lot of award unit 30 (VE 30) starts in the west after Laim Station with the starting shaft for the TBM in front of the Donnersberger Bridge and ends with tunnel construction at the Marienhof access structure east of the central station.

The western portal of the two new main line tubes is located about 300 meters before the Donnersberger Bridge. Up to the first underground station at the main station, the new main line passes under the old one and changes to its southern side.
