New Ebensfeld-Erfurt Rail Route: Lohmeberg and Feuerfelsen Tunnels

Work on producing 2 further tunnels on the 107 km long new rail route (NBS) between Ebensfeld and Erfurt with a designated speed of 300 km/h has begun. The route is part of the 500 km long new and upgraded Nuremberg-Erfurt/Halle line, the German Unity transport project No. 8.

Driving operations for the 688 m long, twin-tube Lohmeberg Tunnel close to the Brandkopf (1,493 m) and Silberberg (7,391 m) tunnels began in early November 2010 and work on the 1,043 m long, twin-track Feuerfelsen Tunnel between the Reitersberg (2,975 m) and Rennberg (1,075 m) tunnels at the start of December 2010.
