Galgenbuck Tunnel under Construction

By revamping the Schaffhausen South hub on the Swiss A4 motorway, it is intended to link the city of Schaffhausen’s road network with the Klettgau district and relieve Neuhausen at the Rhine Waterfall of through traffic by as much as 26 000 vehicles per day. The roughly 1.1 km long Galgenbuck Tunnel between Engl and Bahntal with bi-directional traffic running in two lanes and a 4.5 % gradient in the direction of Bahntal represents the core of this construction scheme.
