Kurhessenbahn Railway
to build new Zierenberg Tunnel

The Kurhessenbahn Railway’s Zierenberg Tunnel which opened back in 1897 has a single track and is 816 m long. As renovation is uneconomic a new 937 m tunnel bore is to be set up parallel 13 to 20 m north of the existing one by early 2019. First of all, site accesses are to be established at the west portal with a bridge for lorries being developed; these preparatory activities are due to last until late 2014.
