Siemens electrifies Metro in Ahmedabad

The Indian mass-transit operator Metro Link Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad (MEGA) has commissioned Siemens to electrify a 39.2 km metro line (Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase 1) in the Indian metropolis Ahmedabad, comprising an underground section of 6.3 km. The line of Phase 1, currently under construction, is scheduled to be operational in 2019 and will run in Ahmedabad city in two corridors, East-West and North-South.
